Experience the difference of Edward Mendes Photography

Not all photographers or photography studios are the same, far from it, this is particularly true today.  With digital SLR cameras becoming so mainstream, its a common misconception that a nice camera creates professional pictures and thus it seems that more people than ever before are trying to tote themselves as a "professional" when in actuality they are simply camera owners.  Buying a DSLR camera doesn't instantly teach you how to correctly or dynamically light someone, it doesn't teach you how to pose or compose an image and it certainly doesn't help you at all when something goes wrong at a wedding and you need to know what to do and how to adapt to the situation.  Photography is my passion, it's how I make a living and its what I love to do.  I take great pride in producing portraits that you'll cherish for a lifetime, something that will bring a smile to your face each time you see it hanging in your home.  So give me a call and come on by for a creative consultation where we'll discuss your portraits, giving me the information needed to design the perfect session for you and I'll have some warm cookies ready for you too.

What sets us apart

jennisonfamilyThe Consultation - Before I started doing creative consultations they were virtually unheard of in this area and even now very few photographers take the time to do them.  Why?  Because they take time and most studios would rather simply meet you for the first time at the session and create generic images that says nothing about you or your family.  I want to meet you and discover what makes you and your family unique, in addition I think its important to discuss the colors of your home and/or office where the images will eventually be displayed.  This information will be used in creating ideas for your session, be useful in choosing colors for clothing and help later on with framing.

The Perfect Image - Every image that leaves the studio is completely retouched, and the retouching isn't limited to just your face but the entire image, body and background.  This is something that's becoming a lost art with "professionals" simply giving you a disk of images.  The truth is most of the time they do this because they don't know how to retouch and finish an image; they don't work with a professional lab and they just do this on the weekends for "fun".  Now your stuck with a disk of badly lit, badly posed, blemish filled images to take to the local warehouse store.  I don't consider that a professional job that warrants either your time or money and you won't get that here; every image that leaves the studio is perfect, perfectly lit, perfectly retouched, perfectly posed so you'll look...perfect. I consider each image that leaves the studio and displayed in your home to be a reflection of me and my work, when someone sees your images and asks who created them I want it to be because they are taken away by there beauty and depth, not because they want to make sure and never use "that person".maddy

Images where you want them - Whether in the studio, on location or both, we create images in some of the most breathtaking places in the world and we'll travel anywhere you would like.   It doesn't matter if we stay local, travel to the beach, the city or the mountains,  we travel more than any other studio in the area and know the best locations no matter where you want to go, near or far.

A true professional - Would you go to a doctor that didn't go to medical school? How about a dentist that only does it on the side and just got into density because the drill "does the work for you"? I bet not. So why should it be any different with photography. This is Edward's career, he has a degree in photography, teaches workshops on photography, writes articles for major photography magazines and websites and has won numerous awards for his photographs. On top of it all his fine art work is carried by numerous galleries and companies around the world. He's a professional who's going to make you look your best and create awesome images.

Only one photographer - Some other studios hire people with little or no photography experience and call them photographers, and when you go in for your 15 minutes of camera time you get whoever is next in line. This isn't the post office; it’s your portrait session. When you come into Edward Mendes Photography you only deal with one person, Ed, a professional photographer.

No limits - Your session is all about you, pure and simple. To make sure of that we only book one session a day, yours. You don't have to worry about being rushed so we can get to the next appointment or limiting the number of poses so we can move things along.  I always make sure we have plenty of time, this freedom is particularly important with children or newborn portraits where a mid session feeding is sometimes nsimpsonfamilyeeded.  You have unlimited time, unlimited poses, unlimited everything...it your portrait session.

The Little Things - I think its the little things that count, the music playing in the background, the warm cookies waiting for you at the consultation, cold drinks during the session and of course personal attention and great customer service.  If you have questions you should always feel free to contact me, via email or phone, I'm always available to you and will do everything I can to to make your portraits a memorable experience.

Anything you want - Traditional photographic prints are beautiful and they come in a number of finishes for you to choose from, but if that's not exactly what you're looking for we have many other ways to display your prints that will be the envy of everyone who sees them.  Canvas gallery wraps, multi-segment canvases, metal prints, water color prints, just about anyway you can think of to display your prints or have them printed I can do, just ask.

A Custom Products - Everything we do is custom created specifically for you, to that end we also offer many products in addition to prints.  Some of these products include, framing, album designs, multiple image compositions, cards, announcements, invitations and a lot more.  All products are custom designed without the use of "cookie cutter" style templates, each product is unique and one-of-a-kind, just like you and your loved ones.
