Equipment

Edward uses an array of camera from 35mm to 4x5.  Most of his images however, about 95%, are captured with his Mamiya 645, with either a 45, 55, 80 or 150mm lens.

Film

Edward uses a handful of films but most of his black and white images are captured on T-max 100/400 or Ilford PanF (50 speed).  As for color; Kodak's now discontinued Ultra 100 is the workhorse for negative.  However, many images were/are captured on Afga's wonderful Ultra 50 film, possibly the best color negative film ever made (now discontinued).  When shooting chromes Fuji Velvia or Provia are the films of choice.

The Print

Black and White:  Black and White negatives are either hand printed on Ilford Fiber based papers or scanned using a Tango Drum Scanner.  The scanned images are scanned at 10,000dpi allowing prints of up to wall sized murals.  The scanned images are then optimized using traditional photographic techniques such as color and density correction and dodging and burning.  The images are Piezography printed on fine art paper.  Piezography prints have been tested to last over 100 year without fading and offers a greater tonal range than traditional black and white prints.  These are truly stunning prints.

Color:  Images are scanned using a Tango Drum Scanner, Hasselblad Virtual Drum Scanner or Ultra high resolution flatbed scanner.  The scanned images are scanned at 10,000dpi allowing prints of up to wall sized murals. The scanned images are then optimized using traditional photographic techniques such as color and density correction and dodging and burning.  The images are then printed on Fuji Crystal Archive paper.  Crystal Archive paper is a tradition photographic paper, exposed by lasers, then run through traditional wet chemicals.  With greater color saturation, contrast, sharpness and archival ness,  60-100 years without fading, other photographic papers these prints are the most beautiful you'll see.
